The Adventure Begins part 2 chapter 3

*Intermission Ends*

Thomas would not stop being a nusiance. Night after night, he would keep the others awake.

Thomas: I'm tired of shunting coaches. I want to go places and do things. I want to see the world!

Gordon: Thomas, if you don't mind, some of us are trying to get some sleep over here!

The others didn't take much notice for Thomas was a little fellow with a long tongue.

*Pinkie Pie pops up out of nowhere*

Pinkie Pie: *measuring Thomas's tongue* Doesn't look that long to me.

Thomas: Pinkie, why are you doing that to me?

Pinkie Pie: The narrator says you have a long tongue.

Thomas: It was an expression.

Pinkie Pie: Oh... Right.

But Edward was a kind soul and felt sorry for Thomas.

Edward: I have a goods train to take tomorrow with Song Cue. If you take it instead of me, I'll do your shunting.

Thomas: Really? Oh, thank you, Edward. You're really kind.

Edward: You're welcome Thomas.

The next morning, the two told their helpers about the switch.

Song Cue: Don't see any harm in that.

Twilight Sparkle: I suppose seeing the world would be fun.

The four friends head into the yards.

Thomas: So, Edward, which trucks are yours? Those ones? Or, is it these ones? Or, those?

Edward: Those ones over there. *points to a line of cars* But I should tell you...

Thomas: I know. I have to be coupled up before I go. I learned my lesson.

Song Cue: Actually we wanted to warn you about the Troublesome Delinquents who sometimes live in the cars.

Now troublesome delinquents are silly and noisy. They talk a lot and don't attend to what they're doing. And I'm sorry to say they play tricks on those who aren't used to them.

Thomas: (Buffers his engine up to the trucks.) Ok. Wait for the Shunter and the gaurd and we will be good to go.

Twilight: Thomas, I think we need to listen to Edward and Song Cue.

Thomas: They worry too much, like Henry.

The guard blew his whistle and they started off. But the delinquents weren't ready.

Delinquents: Wait, Thomas, wait!

But Thomas wouldn't wait.

Thomas: Come on, trucks and delinquents. We haven't got all day.

Delinquents: Aright, don't fuss!

*as they set out, music begins*

Singers:
The drivers always think they are so clever.
And so they like to bump the cars around.
They bump them in the sidings, they bump them in the yards.
They better beware, they better take care,
They better be on their guard...

Edward: Thomas, be careful!

Song Cue: Oh dear. He's going to wound up in trouble again.

Singers:
Thomas takes the train along the line.
He's happy and he thinks it's going fine
The delinquents start to moan.
They rattle and they groan.
Look out, Thomas!
Watch out, Thomas!
That's a warning sign!

Thomas: Whee!

Twilight: Uh, I guess it is nice to see things that are not in the yard.

But the delinquents were getting crosser and crosser by how Thomas was handling them. At last, they slowed down at Gordon's hill.

Singers:
Before long, Thomas comes to Gordon's Hill.
It's hard work and he really has to pull.
But soon he's at the top,
And then he just can't stop.
*in sync with the delinquents*On! On! On!
They all go faster still.

Thomas/Twilight: *as they go racing down the hill* Whoa!!!

Before Thomas or Twilight could check them, the delinquents had pushed them down the hill.

Delinquents: Whee! Roller Coaster!

Singers:
Because those Troublesome Delinquents get the drivers every time,
Troublesome Delinquents run the engines off the line.
They push them here, push them there, until they go too fast,
Then they push them once again, laughing while they crash...

*They race past Henry and Fluttershy, trying to take control of the train.*

Fluttershy: *Quivers with fright* Doh!

Angel: *Snuggles up to his owner.*

Henry: Looks like Thomas and Twilight are in trouble.

Singers:
Troublesome Delinquents get the engines every time,
Troublesome Delinquents run the engines off the line.
They don't care how big they are, to them it's just a game...
Those Delinquents, will get them all the same.

*the train raced into Maron Station.*

Thomas: *applies the brakes hard* Come on, Thomas! Use the force!

Singers:
They don't care how big they are, to them it's just a game...
Those Delinquents, will get them all the same!

Delinquents: *laughing*

When he opened his eyes, Thomas could see they had stopped just in front of the buffers.

Thomas: Phew! That was close.

Twilight: No kidding, Thomas.

There watching them, was Sir Topham Hatt.

Sir Topham Hatt: Thomas? What are you and Twilight doing here?

Thomas: We brought Edward's goods train for him, sir.

Sir Topham Hatt: Why did you come in so fast?

Thomas: We didn't mean to. Those Delinquents were pushing us.

Sir Topham: Oh, Thomas, I told you to stay in the yard to get used to working with trucks and coaches. And, I told Edward to take these trucks down because he is exprienced with this sort of thing. If you're not prepared to take the time to learn how to do things properly, then I'll have to take you off duty for a while.

Thomas: No, please! I'm sorry, sir. I want to learn. I want to be really useful.

Sir Topham Hatt: Then you still have a lot to learn about cars and coaches, Thomas. After pushing them about in the yards for a while, you'll know almost as much about them as Edward. Then you will be really useful.

Sir Topham then left to tend to other business. Thomas and Twilight were about to depart too, when they saw Applejack on the platform on break.

Applejack: Howdy, guys. Ah saw what happened.

Thomas: Yeah. Saw how I failed at taking my first goods train ever! (Sighs) Who am I kidding? I'll be the driver of a station pilot for the whole of my career.

Twilight: Don't think like that, Thomas. Maybe a visit to Glynn might cheer you up.

Thomas: *Weak smile* Maybe.

So the three took a trip to Ffaquhar.

Thomas: *Knocks on the door.*

Glynn: Come in.

*the three come in*

Glynn: Thomas and friends. So good to see you again. I haven't seen you in a while. *sees Thomas's sad face* What's the matter?

Thomas: I took my first goods train and failed big time. I don't know how Edward does it so easily.

Twilight: He's really upset about it.

Thomas: I feel like a disgrace. I let Sir Topham Hatt down, I let my friends down, I even let you down, Glynn. I don't deserve to be number 1!

Glynn: *bonks Thomas in the head with his walking stick*

Thomas: Ow! What was that for?

Glynn: It doesn't matter. It's in the past. You can either hide from it, or learn from it. *goes to do it again, but Thomas ducks out of the way this time* See?

Thomas: Yes. My incidents are a bit like hitting my head; I can either hide from anything that might hurt me, or learn from my mistakes.

Applejack: *to Thomas and Twilight* Ah think we have ta leave now.

Twilight: It was nice, seeing you, Glynn. Take care.

Thomas: And thanks for the lesson.

Glynn: Of course.

With that, the three made their way back.
